Luhman 16 AB

I realized this morning that I was maybe getting a little too O.C.D. An Astra instance and an Opus 5.5 instance had been working for nineteen days straight on the ember code, and specifically on the end-to-end run of a tenth-solar-mass star. One compaction after another (not good practice). Cracking open those OpenAI resets. I kept demanding more realism. “All the charismatic metals, gold, lead, etc.? They need to have their diffusion transports handled separately.” Or, “Why isn’t lithium in the reaction network?” And so forth. The helium WD remnant was solved down all the way to a chilly 200K. We were off the tables again. We needed more equation-of-state-work. “OK, guys,” I said, “Let’s take a break. Let’s just run some go-to calcs, get ember out of the shop and out on the road for a spin. Opus, give me a workup of Luhman 16AB, complete with a really nice figure that shows some tracks, is a graphic winner, and doesn’t over-explain.”
